Deacon’s Message

Elections and voting has been in the news a lot lately. There have been municipal and provincial elections, referendums and mid-terms in the USA. Everywhere you look there are campaign signs, ads and rhetoric.

It can be annoying and exhausting. And it is sacred. We have the gift of being able to vote in peace and safety. For many people in the world that is not their experience.

It is our right and our responsibility to engage in the process. The results may not always go the way we may wish, but that doesn’t mean we can opt out.

So I hope and pray that everyone who is eligible will make the effort to study the issues, learn about the candidates and go out to the polls tomorrow (unless you’ve already voted in the advance polls).

As you do, offer a prayer of thanksgiving.

In peace

The Rev. Eileen
