Candlemas

Candlemas is an ancient celebration for the church. It falls on February 2, forty days after Christmas, and the day we remember the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple.

In our hemisphere, it is also seen as the half-way point of the Winter season. Each day brings more light as the days slowly grow longer.

This Sunday we will celebrate Candlemas with prayer and by blessing candles. We’ll be gathering the various candles in the church and you are welcome to bring candles from home if you’d like them to be included.
