Vicar’s Message
Blessings to the St. George’s community,
Last Sunday I shared with you Kreg Yingst’s book Everything Could Be A Prayer, block prints of canonized and everyday saints that remind us to notice those in our lives who point us toward God’s love. This week, as we approach Remembrance Day and pray for peace in the world, his portrait of the Celtic Christian Hilda of Whitby, who founded an arts-focused all gender monastery, seems especially appropriate. Her final words to her community were, “Keep the peace of the gospel with one another and indeed with the entire world.”
Kreg offers this prayer for those contemplating her example of gentle encouragement:
Face of Love,
Help me be quick to listen and slow to speak. Use the words I do speak as salt and light, bringing encouragement to the hearts of all who hear them. Amen
