Easter 2 – 27 April 2025
Happy Easter
The world has put away their Easter decorations and treats for another year but our celebration of this season continues!
Holy Week at St. George’s was wonderful. We walked the three great days together in beautiful and meaningful ways. Thank you to everyone for all their work during Holy Week, especially altar guild!
It feels like our world is also in the midst of a time of confusion, fear and uncertainty. There are days when I just want to turn off all the news and social media and hide under a blanket. It can all get to be too much. When we feel like that, it’s important to take a break from all the noise and recharge our batteries. Then we can have the strength to re-enter the world and get back to living our lives in the light of the empty tomb.
On Monday we’ll have the opportunity to take an active part in the life of our country, as we choose those who will form our government for the next few years. If you haven’t already voted – make sure you get to the polls so your voice can be heard. The message of love overcoming hate compels us to be a part of this process.
On Sunday we’ll hear about Thomas and how he needed reassurance of Jesus’ resurrection. Maybe, like us, he was struggling to make sense of the world around him and this was part of how he coped with his fear and anxiety.
In the meantime, let us all pray for the life of our country and for all those who are offering themselves as candidates in our federal election.
See you on Sunday!
