Lent 4 – 30 Mar 2025

Dear Parishioners,

It’s so strange, in the face of alarming national and international turbulence, to see magnolia blossoms bursting forth and hear frogs and red-winged blackbirds announcing the new season. We witness the earth’s rebirth as we anticipate the amazing paradoxes in the story of Easter. The stark contrasts in gospel of the “prodigal son” and the letter to the Corinthians remind us of reconciliation that is possible as we reach out to those in need.

When St. George’s parishioners reach out beyond our own community—nationally or internationally—the Outreach Committee turns to PWRDF. Why? Who (and where) are they? What’s special about their programs? This Sunday, in place of a sermon, members of the Outreach Committee hope, in just 15 minutes,  to enlighten parishioners on the work of PWRDF (now called “Alongside Hope”), including this year’s Lenten appeal in support of water access for women and children in Kenya.

We’ll also sing you a little ditty about donkeys, so you can’t go wrong.

See you Sunday.
