Epiphany 6 – 16 Feb 2025

Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone who worked at the various tasks that made our vestry meeting go so well, and even more thanks to those who have worked tirelessly in the year preceding so that all those many wonders in the Annual Report could be accomplished. Well done. We have a little while to catch our collective breaths and then the season of Lent will begin.
As we experience troubled times in our world particularly with war and violence and political and policy changes that threaten vulnerable communities I want to share a prayer written by Rabbi Irwin Keller in 2016.
A Prayer Before Reading the News
Elohai neshamah shenatata bi tehorah hi
My God, the soul you have placed in me is pure and vulnerable.
I am afraid that looking at today’s news will be painful.
Encircle me in a robe of light
So that I can witness the wounds of the world
without being wounded myself.
Let me learn what I need to know
in order to be of my greatest use,
without being overwhelmed by despair.
I feel your protective light
Now as I open myself to the world’s suffering
And the world’s joys.
AMEN
Yours,
Rev. Laurel
